This documents the procedure to register for an internship so that you are enrolled in PPT 298 Cooperative Education/Internship and receive credit for your internship.
It is important to remember that you do not register for PPT 298 in MyInfo like most classes. You are registered for the class by completing the following steps in CareerLink after your instructor and internship supervisor approve the internship.
Email your instructor to inform them you are starting the process to register for an internship.
Verify that your work qualifies as a PPT internship. Per the course catalog, the internship must provide experience in the area of Process Plant Technology. Check with your instructor if there are questions.
The 1 credit internship requires 45 hours in a plant.
You must register for the course through CareerLink when you start working to earn credit. It isn't possible to give credit retroactivly for work completed earlier.
Find the "I found an internship" button and click it.
Use this syllabus link as a guide to requirements. CareerLink will ask for goals. There are example goals at the end of the syllabus that we have developed over the years that you are likely to find useful. Pick some you like an enter into CareerLink.
Verify that you are enrolled in the D2L class. This has to happen for you to get credit and will take a day or two after all approvals are complete. It is important to keep on this as things can stall. Sometimes and employer or supervisor won't complete the email approval and the process will stall. I can't see the process, so it is important to make sure it works. Contact me or Career Services (657-2168 / firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have trouble.
Complete the requirements detailed in the syllabus.
